Acer japonicum Aconitifolium  
Acer japonicum 'Acontifolium' is just a beautiful, spreading tree with deeply cut leaves which emerge a very pale green in the spring before turning a dark green for the summer. The autumn colours are amazing, between scarlet red and dark purples. Site out of strong winds in light shade for the best results.
    Position? full sun to part shade; out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? 2 to 3 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous; open, strongly branched small tree
