Acer palmatum Beni tsukasa  
Acer palmatum 'Beni tsukasa' is an astounding maple whose leaves emerge a salmon pink in the spring, which then fade to a pinky-green for the summer. It is a very delicate looking tree and deserves to be in pride of place in the garden. Suitable for growing in a container or open ground.
    Position? full sun to part shade; out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? 2 to 3 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous; upright, vase shaped, spectacular spring colouring
