Acer pamatum Katsura  
Acer palmatum 'Katsura' is a medium-sized maple with strong orange growth in early spring, turning to yellow throughout the summer but retaining orange edges to the leaves. Fairly upright growth and suitable for planting in any garden or quite happy in a container. The autumn provides a fantastic display of yellows, oranges and reds and is one of our most popular maples.
    Position? full sun to part shade; sheltered site preferred out of strong winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? 3 to 4 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous; open, vase-like habit
