Acer palmatum Muncaster  
Acer palmatum 'Muncaster' is a sport from Muncaster Gardens in Cumbria with small green leaves which roll up at the edges on striking bright red leaf stalks. Very pleasing effect, dense growing, semi dwarf, narrow tree with yellow autumn colour.
    Position? full sun to part shade; sheltered site preferred out of strong winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? up to 1.5 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous; compact, upright growth
