Acer palmatum Okagami  
Acer palmatum 'Okagami' In spring the leaves emerge a deep burgundy red and almost reach black if grown in good light. By late summer the leaves assume a green-yellow colour before turning a fiery red in the autumn. Not quite as tall growing as some other cultivars, so very suitable for container cultivation.
    Position? full sun to part shade; sheltered site preferred out of strong winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? up to 3 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous; open habit
