Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia'  
Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia', Japanese Spotted Laurel is a very hardy large shrub from Japan, tolerant of shady positions due to its native woodland habitat. Glorious glossy green and yellow leaves, and red berries in the autumn. Would make an excellent container plant or a very good backdrop to a border. This plant works very well as a structural specimen and is an ideal background to show off other plants against . Very hardy and adaptable plant much loved by the Victorians.
    Position? full shade to part shade
    Soil? most soils except waterlogged or chalky
    Eventual size? 2 to 3 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? rounded evergreen shrub with dense foliage
