Butia capitata, the Jelly Palm. This is a stunning feather palm from South America, which is becoming more and more popular due to its remarkable hardiness. It produces large fleshy fruits (which are very tasty) after a good hot summer. It will need some winter protection when it is young, especially in the colder parts of the country but is generally a very tough palm. |
