Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea', the Golden Indian Bean Tree is a wide, spreading tree with large, heart-shaped leaves which emerge a golden yellow before turning to pale green. Upright pacicles of creamy white flowers are produced in early summer and these are then followed by long, hanging seed pods which remain long after the leaves fall. It is a vigorous tree and can be kept coppiced or pollarded for even bigger leaves! |
