Eucalyptus gunnii, Cider Gum
Common name: Cider Gum. The young leaves are rounded and silver-blue initially, becoming sickle-shaped and sage-green as the tree matures. Fast growing, spreading tree. Far too big for the average garden (see Eucalyptus gunnii 'Azura' for smaller gardens). It's hardiness making it most suitable for UK use. It size can be controlled by cutting back selected stems every year or two. Ok on clay soils, but avoid shallow soils over chalk.
Position? Plant in full sun, in a sheltered position to avoid cold winds
Soil? Well drained soil, avoid shallow soils over chalk
Eventual size? Height: 5m-6m after 10 years, spread: 4m after 10 years
    Habit? Fast growing spreading habit
