Pineapple Guava

Feijoia sellowiana, Pineapple Guava is an exotic evergreen shrub from South America. It has small dark green, rounded leaves which are glaucous beneath. Very striking flowers with reddish/white petals and red stamens. After a good, hot summer, apricot sized fruits will appear, which when ripe have a lovely smell and taste (pineappley). If you really want, you can eat the petals as well!
Eventual height:
 2 metres; easily pruned
Preferred position:
 sunny, sheltered position; free-draining soils
Habit:
 dense and compact; large shrub
Leaf:
 evergreen, green foliage, white undersides
