Ginkgo biloba Fairmont  
Ginkgo biloba 'Fairmont' is an American selection which makes a very architectural formal looking specimen, incredibly columnar in habit. It has a tendency for rapid growth when young and quickly develops into a fine specimen tree. This is ideal for the smaller garden where space is limited and an upright tree is required.
    Position? full sun to full shade; out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds
    Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
    Eventual size? up to 5 metres, but can be pruned
    Habit? deciduous, slender and upright; dark green leaves turning yellow before falling
    Suitable for? growing as a narrow feature tree, reminiscent of the Italian Cypress in habit
