Plagianthus regius, Ribbonwood is a beautiful small tree is endemic to New Zealand where it grows in areas of lowland forest. It matures to a lovely straight trunked specimen. The leaves on the young tree are bright green with toothed margins, changing to more elongate as the plant ages. Although it has an attractive dainty appearance, it can withstand strong winds and will do well in most soils. In it's native New Zealand the Ribbonwood tree one of the few deciduous trees however the established tree at our nursery retains it's leaves for most of the winter. Dropping them just before it comes back into growth in spring. |
