Robinia 'Frisia', False Acacia, is a small to medium sized, delicate looking tree, with very attractive yellow pinnate leaves, yellow-green in summer and yellow-orange in autumn. It has pendent clusters of fragrant white flowers in early and mid-summer. Complements most other planting well, and is a fabulous colour tree to have in even the smallest of gardens, especially if pruned right back in February/March - which is highly recommended - to promote dense, shrubby growth, and protect from strong summer winds that will damage leaves and small branches. Will grow branches 10 feet in length in one season if pruned as above! Every garden should have one (in my opinion!) RHS Award of Garden Merit. |
