Holboellia

Stauntonia hexaphylla is a choice, hardy climber that should be more widely known. It is reliably evergreen, has wonderful nodding bell shaped white, tinged with violet, flowers. The flowers are produced during early to mid summer and are sweetly perfumed. A fast growing twinning climber that is fully hardy.

Will flower best in full sun but is also happy growing in a shady position

Position? full sun to shade; out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds
Soil? all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering
Eventual size? up to 8 metres, but can be pruned
Habit? fast growing, twining evergreen climber, needs wires or trellis for support
