Clematis armandii, the evergreen Clematis, originates from China and is a vigorous climber. With clusters of beautifully scented white flowers, being produced in abundance from March until May, the flowers are set off against the long, dark green leaves. It is best planted on a sunny wall or fence where it can be admired the whole year round, it also makes an attractive screen when growing on a trellis.

Plant just below soil level with some good quality compost and mulch the surface in winter or early spring. If pruning desired, cut back after flowering to above a leaf bud, carefully tracing back from growing tip.
