Description Q & A Suggested Sundries Description

Cornus hongkongensis has taken us somewhat by storm. This Cornus has everything; superb evergreen foliage which turns red and orange in the autumn, with the leaves remaining then turning dark green again in spring. In late spring/early summer the fragrant flowers open, surrounded by luscious white bracts which in our garden remained flowering for almost three months. Finally, when the flowers fade, the resulting fruits are like dainty miniature strawberries hanging amongst the evergreen foliage.

Still very rare in cultivation, we are more than excited to be able to offer Cornus hongkongensis which is sure to become a popular addition to many gardens.  With an ultimate height of up to four meters or more, tolerance of full sun to part shade and a very hardy nature, there is a place in most gardens for this plant.

Our plant is happily growing in a neutral soil, as with most Asian cornus, I would suggest avoiding shallow chalk, adding ericaceous compost when planting and add an annual mulch would be beneficial.
