Cryptomeria japonica 'Lobbii'
A graceful form of Cryptomeria, Lobbii has a conical shape with evergreen, spirally arranged needles that curve slightly inward. The needles are blue grey in summer, turning bronze gold in colder temperatures before regreening in the spring. Has small, dark brown cones. The bark is an attractive reddish brown, shedding in strips. A good decorative tree for a sheltered spot.
- Common Names: Japanese red cedar
Choose a sheltered, sunny spot for this tree and plant with good quality compost in fertile soil but not waterlogged. Prune if required in mid spring to early summer, pinching out the new growth at the end of the branches as they sprout to give a fuller, bushier appearance and encourage new growth.
