Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' (Vanderwolf's Pyramid Limber Pine)
I really like Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' not just because it has a crazy name, this pine is spectacularly architectural with beautiful bluish green dense needles and stiff upright habit. We have planted as a specimen amongst bamboo, Japanese maples and Trachycarpus palms. Fairly slow growing and requiring little maintenance Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' should be planted more often as it takes up very little space whilst adding bold structure to the garden.
Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' seems pretty tolerant of most soils though I'd avoid or improve shallow or waterlogged conditions. It is hardy and should be suitable for gardens throughout the British Isles. As with all trees and shrubs add good compost when planting it will also help speed up establishment if some root grow is added too, check out our sundries page for information https://www.bigplantnursery.co.uk/plant-sundries/
Expect Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolf's Pyramid' to reach between 4-5 metres high after 10 years.
