Fargesia ‘Viking’ (murieliae x nitida)

Viking Bamboo

(3 customer reviews)

Description

Fargesia ‘Viking’ is one of the fabulous new generation of hybrid bamboos developed by Fargesia expert Hans Verweig by crossing two different species of Fargesia, murielae and nitida which were coincindently flowering at the same time during 2005.

What we really like about this bamboo is it’s tight clump forming habit, chunky grey flushed stems and good leaf quality, particularly during winter. Very hardy looking good planted as a specimen or even as a bushy hedge or screen. Not overly tall, growing to around 3 metres in high. So in essence an attractive easy to grow bamboo showing both robust growth and habit.

The resulting seedlings have given birth to ‘Viking’, ‘Winter Joy’ and ‘Obelisk’.

  • Common Names:Viking bamboo.
