Leucothoe axillaris ‘Twisting Red’

(1 customer review)

Description

This recent introduction has fabulous twisting, evergreen leaves. New shoots emerge burgandy red looking striking against the bright green, glossy mature leaves which remain through summer before turning a deeper red in autumn as the temperature drops. Pretty, small white flowers in spring. Grows well in all light conditions, but needs moist soil in full sun. Prefers acid to neutral soil away fron cold, drying winds. Has a bushy, low growing habit, good for ground cover, pots and front of border. Hardy, use ericaceous compost when planting.

  • Position:Sun to shade.
  • Soil:Acid to neutral.
  • Eventual Size:50cm high, 60 cm wide.
  • Habit:Low, mound shape.
  • Foliage:Burgundy red/green, evergreen.
