Dwarf Palmetto Palm

Description Q & A Description
Sabal minor, the Dwarf Palmetto Palm, is an almost trunkless palm from the USA. It is relatively hardy in most parts of the UK, but prefers a sunny, sheltered position - ideally being wrapped up for the winter in colder parts of the UK. When happy it will produce very large leaves which almost appear to come straight out of the ground. Great in a pot as long as it doesn't freeze solid!
  • Position: Full sun and a sheltered position; should be wrapped in colder areas
  • Soil: All soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; drought tolerant once established
  • Eventual height: Up to 3m
  • Eventual spread: Up to 1.5m
  • Habit: Masses of large, dark green leaves with almost no trunk
  • Hardiness: Fully Hardy
  • Common Names: Dwarf Palmetto Palm

Nice healthy specimen standing over 6 feet tall, (including pot), arrived today. Very well packaged also. Cannot fault the service. Incidentally, the strawberry tree I ordered at the same time (to share the same pallet) was also excellent.
