Azalea japonica 'Stewartstonian'
An excellent, scarlet red hybrid, with a profusion of bright funnel shaped flowers in April/May and the added interest of changing leaf colour. The leaves are mahogany in winter, turn reddish through spring to green for summer. Evergreen, hardy, height 1.5m. Plant in a sheltered spot in dappled shade in acid to neutral soil.
Plant in full sun / part shade in acidic soil or use ericaceous compost, in pots or containers, keep soil damp but not water logged. Top mulch in spring
