Agave ‘Blue Flame’ is a spectular hybrid agave originating from the U.S.A being a cross between Agave attenuata and Agave shawii with broad green to blue-grey smooth leaves 60-70cm tipped with a fine spine. Rarely seen in the U.K this is an agave easy to deal with and look after due to is soft spineless leaves with just a little warning at the tip that it really is a member of what is mostly a fearsome family. Agave ‘Blue Flame’ is perfect as a container plant located in a sunny position although hardier than Agave attenuata I’m guessing that it won’t be fully hardy outside in the U.K unless you have a very mild microclimate for it. Due to it’s ease of handling ‘Blue Flame’ would make a fabulous conservatory or even house plant given adequate light.
Once seen you will definately love this agave, especially if the sun is shinning and as the leaves seem to glow and change with the light intensity.
