Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’

Description

Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’, otherwise known as ‘Golden Hakone Grass’ is a beautiful grass forming low mounds of densely overlapping leaves of golden-yellow-green with thin stripes of green on red stems.  This is a fabulous grass for cascading over the edges of borders and looks stunning in a light breeze.  Small frothy green flowers appear in autumn.   Although foliage dies off during the winter months, it’s well worth keeping it on the plants as the display, particularly when frosty is beautiful.  Will reach a height of around 25-35cm and a spread of 80cm. May planted as a single specimen but for a bolder and more spectacular effect plant en masse.
