What can we say? Semiarundinaria fastuosa is a remarkable bamboo. Sometimes known as ‘Narihira Bamboo’, Semiarundinaria is a very tall, evergreen, erect tree-like bamboo with mid-green canes striped purple-brown. Glossy mid-green leaves adorn the upper parts of the plant and the culms have the most wonderful pearlescent husks.
Very hardy and will reach heights of 6-7 metres. We recommend using bamboo root barrier when planting Semiarundinaria. Requires free-draining but moist soil and will appreciate shelter from cold drying winds which may scorch the leaves.
