Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’

Description

Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’ is a beautiful ferny foilaged small shub which works hard through the seasons with continual interest.

In late winter the hardy new shoots appear the most delicous pinky lime green, shrugging off the late frosts. The shoots then develop into fine ferny leaves ultimately maturing to lush green just in time to complement the plumes of astilbe like creamy white flowers, held like sentinels above the leaves. Then just as you think thats enough, winter is approaching ‘Sem’ turns into a blaze of autumn colour.

Really this is a must have plant, never getting too tall, around 1m slowly spreading into a decent sized clump. Easily pruned and tolerant of most conditions being extremely hardy it’s origins going back the the Ural montains in Russia.
