Description
A really good upright grass with ever changing colours. Panicum virgatum ‘Squaw’ starts growing in spring with lush upright growth of fresh green leaves which gradually age to pale blue and greays, eventually turning burnished reds and purples as the summer progresses into autumn. If that’s not enough, in mid-summer srays of delicate pinkish flowers and seed heads are produced above the leaves.
Reaching 1.2m in height, Panicum virgatum ‘Squaw’ looks great accompanied with Verbana bonariensis 0 the purple/blue flower heads complement the ‘Squaw’ perfectly.
In late winter, cut down Panicums to 30cm after enjoying the winter show of straw-like stems which look fabulous in the frosts.
