Libertia grandiflora

Description

Libertia grandiflora is a beautiful evergreen originating from New Zealand.  There is some dispute concerning the nomenclature but for now we will stick with Libertia grandiflora!  Beautiful, narrow and deep green sword shaped leaves create a wonderful backdrop for the flowers spikes which form in spring and reach up to 60cm in height.  Stunning, orchid-like white flowers open to create an elegant and spetacular display, which is particularly eye catching at dusk when the flowers seem to glow magically.  Once the flowers have gone over, they may be cut back to base leaving the impressive, grass-like clump of foliage remaining.  Often planted in groups and can also be growin in containers very successfully.  Plant in fertile, free drainning soil in sun to partial shade.
