Description
Arisaema propinquum is one of the most magnificent varieties of the ‘Cobra Lily’ and hardy enough to be grown in sheltered woodland gardens in the UK. During early spring, large trifolate leaves emerge from the tuber, they have finely outlined edges in red and are veined beautifully, reaching up to around 20cm in length. Shortly after, or during, a fabulous flower spathe erupts, reching up to 40cm in height. The colours are deep-burgundy-brown with intricate white veining – these stunning flowers are ‘hooded’ with the hood covering the opening of the flower – an extraordinary sight to behold!
Plant in humus rich, free draining but moisture retentive soil, in a sheltered, woodland-type location.
