Description
Osmunda cinnamomea is a beautiful deciduous fern forming tight whorls of zingy, slightly glaucous-green fronds which are erected giving a ‘shuttlecock’ effect. In the centre of the plant, shorted plumes of dusty brown (like cinnamon!) fronds emerge which are covered in spores – these look a little like flowers. Excellent in partial shade in moisture retentive fertility soil. It does enjoy moisture so don’t let it dry out but equally – it doesn’t want to drown!
