Description
Mathiasella bupleuroides ‘Green Dream’ is a beautiful Mexican native which we fell in love with when a rogue seedling popped up in our glass house! With foliage and a similar habit to Angelica, beautiful and unusual green, nodding flowers appear in bracts on burgundy-purple stems during early summer. These fade to dusky pink and rermain on the plant into autumn becoming paper-like. The flowers are excellent for flower arrangements and for drying. Reaching up to 100cm in height and around 60cm spread, the plant is ideal in cottage-style planting themes or any contemporary these owing to the architectural structure and leaf form – highly versitile. Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered position in free draining, fertile soil. Mathiasella will not tolerate being water-logged over winter so good drainage is critical. Dead-heading will encourage more flowers and we recommend a thick winter mulch to protect the roots.
