Description
The genus Brassiaopsis is definitely top of the list when it comes to rare jungly plants. Brassiaopsis hispida is no exception with large jagged edged palmate leaves, quite leathery to touch held on a spiny stem. We have found it fairly slow growing up to a couple of metres but potentially could grow much higher given a mild garden with fertile free draining soil.
Naturally evergreen and tolerant of temperatures belowing freezing for short periods. Not considered as hardy as Brassiaopsis mitis or Brassiaopsis fatsioides. Can be quite obliging as an architectural container plant.
