Polypodium vulgare ‘Whitley Giant’

Polypodum vulgare ‘Whitley Giant’ is a really attractive evergreen fern found uncommonly growing in the UK hence this is a tough fern.  The name ‘Whitley Giant’ is somewhat misleading as Polypodum vulgare rarely grows more than 40cm high; I guess it’s just that ‘Whitley Giant’ is a bit bigger and more vigorous than the species.  However the difference , this really is a useful ground cover fern that slowly spreads through creeping rhizomes and is adaptable to differing situations from quite sunny spots through to deep shade.  In summary a good evergreen fern, very hardy, adaptable and easy to grow.
