Bamboo that are particularly suitable for hedging include Phyllostachys aurea and Phyllostachys bissetti as prime candidates for green hedges whilst the black bamboo can also make a good hedge in a sheltered location. These do however require a root barrier to keep them in check and encourage them to grow in the right area.
Fargesia robusta also make a good dense hedge, is very suitable in a shady location without the need for a root barrier.
