At Big Plant Nursery we love conifers, often overlooked these days conifers have such a wide range of forms, colours and textures. We have chosen a selection ranging Cupressus, the quintessential Italian Cypress through to Pines, Thujas and of course Taxus the well known Yew tree.
Conifers feature in all types of garden from hot mediterranean vistas with Pinus pinea ,the Umbrella pine, traditional English scenes with fastigate yew and clipped Thuja hedges and if you have space the wonderful monkey puzzel, Araucaria araucana.
Contemporary gardens would be laking without the compact neat forms of Pinus mugo making statments in both ball and mound shapes, a great alternative to box balls.
Most conifers are hardy and tolerant of a wide range of soils, can be used as specimens, container plants, wind breaks and of course hedges.
