Cautleya spicata ‘Robusta’ is one of our favourite hardy gingers, this Cautleya only grows to around 1m high producing masses of dark green jungly leaves against burgundy red stems, it the garden it rapidly forms small elegant clumps with multi stems each producing a spray of golden orange flowers from late summer into early autumn.
The form Robusta in our opinion is the hardiest and had the best colour is a reliable grower in most UK gardens requiring little attention. Originally from the himalyers, Cautleya spicata ‘Robusta’ will grow in conditions ranging from full sum to dappled shade in any reasonable garden soil.
We would thoroughly recommend this lovely Cautleya for any jungle or architectural planting.
