Farfugium japonicum ‘Crispatum’ or as we prefer better known as ‘Crested Leopard’ plant is an unusual evergreen herbaceous perennial originating from Japan. Related to ligularia the Crested Leopard is easy to grow preferring moisture retentive fertile soils ideally situated in a sheltered dappled shade position. Perfect as a container plant or used as groundcover planted amongst ferns or Hosta, complimenting taller specimen plants. During summer clusters of dainty yellow daisy like flowers are produced on stems up to 60cm above the wavy frilly edged leaves. Should be hardy in most gardens given a little protection from cold exposed locations.
