Description
A fabulous new introduction from aloe breeders in the United States. Originating from Southern Africa, Aloe ‘Safari’ produces multiple spikes of miniature red-hot poker like bicoloured flowers, red at the top and creamy white below. For us in the U.K the beautiful blooms are produced during the darker days of winter and early spring bringing colour to sunny windowsills or conservatories. Aloe ‘Safari’ although not hardy enough to be grown year-round outside can also be kept outdoors until the frosts appear, tolerating temperatures down to 0 degrees centigrade. Rarely growing more than 30cm high it is easy to accommodate with soft spineless leaves predominantly deep green in colour but often tinged with red in cooler weather even without flowers this little aloe looks attractive.
As with most aloes and succulents ‘Safari’ requires a bright sunny position and is tolerant of dry and hot conditions. A great easy aloe to grow and perfect for beginners to the wonderful world of aloes. Oh, almost forgot the flowers are long lasting often remaining in bloom for over a month.
