Leucothoe axillaris ‘Curly Red’

Description

Leucothoe axillaris ‘Curly Red’ has beautiful twisting, evergreen leaves. New shoots emerge deep red looking striking against the bright green, glossy mature leaves which remain through summer before turning a deeper red in autumn as the temperature drops. Pretty, small white flowers in spring. Grows well in all light conditions, but needs moist soil in full sun. Prefers acid to neutral soil away fron cold, drying winds. Has a bushy, low growing habit, good for ground cover, pots and front of border. Hardy, use ericaceous compost when planting.
