Cyathea felina is a rare, very beautiful tree fern native and protected in North Eastern Australia with isolated possibly different forms found growing in hilly jungle of Malaysia, Indonesia, Malaysia through to New Guinea. Cyathea felina is an elegant fast growing tree fern having large 2 or more metre long fronds held on deep brown ‘hairy’ stems. Only hardy to around zero degrees centigrade Cyathea felina can be grown outdoors during the summer months but should be brought undercover during the winter or indeed grown in a shady conservatory or glasshouse permanently. A beautiful fern, quite easy to grow given a sheltered frost free shady position.
