Angelica archangelica is a fabulously exotic looking biennial plant producing huge flowerheads held upon thick, fleshy pink flushed stems.  This is a magnificent plant an requires a position at thre back of a mixed border where it can perform.  This is an aromatic plant and as well as being showy and architectural from a ohrticultural perspective, it also has uses in the culinary world too and indeed some medicinal uses.  Perhaps best known for the candied stems which are often seen in the baking world.  However – in the garden the flowers are highly ornamental and much loved by pollinators.  Flowers are followed by zingy green seed pods which are loved by birds.
