Description
Cynara cardunculus, the Cardoon, is a really fabulous giant thistle of a plant from the Mediterranean with huge soft felty grey/silver leaves up to a metre or so long and in summer large artichoke like bright blue flowers. Can reach over 1.50cm high making an impressive specimen. Plant in fertile reasonably well drained soil positioned in a hot sunny spot for best results, looks stunning planted amongst grasses and taller herbaceous plants.
