Brassaiopsis fatsioides

Description

Of all the recent Brassiaopsis introductions Brassiaopsis fatsioides has the potential to be one of the finest with huge palmate leaves pinched along the ‘fingers’ much like a juvenile Brassiaopsis mitis but retaining this characteristic when mature. It makes a wonderful sight reaching potentially up to 5 metre high, its set to be one of the most talked about species once established in UK gardens. Although perhaps better in a mild or sheltered garden it should be fairly hardy once mature. Ideally we would recommend planting out once it has reached 30cm or more in height and then protecting in winter if the weather turns severe. 

Naturally evergreen but may defoliate in winter but rapidly grows back in spring producing leaves up over 50cm across. Happy in shade to part sun planted in free drianing fertile soil.
