Aloe melanacantha ‘Jaws’

Description

Aloe melanacantha ‘Jaws’ is a fabulous variety.  Native to South Africa the name is due to the creamy-white spines which are like the fierce teeth of a shark.  In fact they are not nearly as fierce but make a striking adornment to the bold, bright green fleshy leaves which form a beautiful rosette.  Aloe ‘Jaws’ is hardy down to about 5 degrees so should perhaps be considered as more of a conservatory or house plant but may be staged outside in the warmer months to great effect.  Grow in very free draining soil and exercise caution when watering being sure that the plant isn’t sitting in water or overwatered.  Place in a sunny or bright position.
