Description
Clerodendrum bungei is a jungly looking shrubby perennial plant with deep green heart shaped leaves usually produced on a single stem which in summer is topped by a large head of tightly packed bright pinky- purple fragrant flowers, obsolutely gorgeous. I like to plant it in dappled shade where the leaves grow the largest and the plant slowly forms a clump, producing new growth from underground suckers. Hardy enjoying most soils and benefiting from rich organic compost around the base of the plant. Can reach 150cm high if really happy. Another bonus is that the flowers are adored by pollinators – Hummingbird Hawk Moths regularly visit the ones in our garden!
