Mertya sinclairii

Description

Meryta sinclairii is another wonderful native to New Zealand, otherwise known as ‘Puka’.  Producing large, waxy and glossy deep green leaves.  An ideal candidate for coastal gardens owing to its wind and salt tolerance.  Here in the UK it is suitable for outdoor growing in only the mildest locations but can be container grown and brought in for the colder months.  Plant in a sunny position in fertile free draining soil, if growing in a container, place in a sheltered position.  Will not tolerate being waterlogged.
