Pseudowintera colorata

Description

Pseudowintera colorata, sometimes known as ‘Pepper Tree’ is a beautiful and unusual bushy shrub, native to New Zealand.  Reaching up to to 1m in height and spread, this charming little shrub is clothed in elliptic green-yellow leaves wihch are mottled with pink-red and have deep purple margins.  The underside of the leaves is a wonderful glaucous blue-green.  During the spring, zingy small yellow-green cup shaped flowers appear which are followed by small red-black berries which are much loved by birds.  Plant in full sun in fertile, free draining soil and enjoy the show.  Much sought after and one for the plant hunters!
