Blechnum novae zealandiae

Description

Blechnum novae zealandiae is a beautiful evergreen fern from New Zealand which is sometimes knnown as ‘Palm Leaf Fern’.  It’s a stunning fern with zingy green fronds which have bronze tints as they emerge, maturing to deep green.  The fronds can reach up to 1.5m creating a wonderfully exotic effect.

Here in the UK we recommend planting Blechnum novae zealantiae in a sheltere full to semi-shaded position in moisture retentive fertile soil.  Not completely frost hardy, so do offer protection from the colder weather.  You may also grow in a container to great effect.
