Matteuccia orientalis

Description

Matteuccia orientalis is an amazing form of Matteuccia with beautiful vibrant green, pinnate fronds.  Sometimes known as the ‘Ostrich Fern’, some fronds are non-fertile which arch downwards whilst the fertile fronds stand to attention in the crown of the plant. This is a hardy deciduous fern which will appreciate a mulch in the winter.  Plant in fertile, moisture retentive but free draining soil in a shaded to semi-shaded position.
