Eryngium pandanifolium ‘Purple Haze’

Description

Eryngium pandanifolium ‘Purple Haze’ sometimes known as ‘Giant Sea Holly’, is a fabulous variety forming a rosette of long sword-like leaves in a striking glaucus-silvery hue. During mid summer you can expect a spectacular display as a tall, up to 3m flower spike develops, clothed in small, purple-burgundy green tufted flowers developing into shades of pink-purple – this is a wonderfully architectural and dramatic plant.  Plant in a sheltered, sunny position in free drasining but moisture retentive soil. In particulalry cold areas some winter protection is advisable.  Will eventually develop into a dense clump.
